Welcome to our Assistive Technology section

Here you’ll discover information about the software and hardware that can make using a computer, smartphone, tablet, smart speaker and other devices easier and more accessible.

Our Assistive Technology Team comprises of, Gary Eady, Access Technology Trainer and Keith Dear, AI Trailblazer. Gary and Keith offer information, guidance, support and training across all areas of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), including specialist screen‑reading, screen‑magnification tools and Artificial Technology.

Support in Employment

If you’re in work and finding your Assistive Technology difficult to use, the team can offer tailored support and information about Access to Work, a government scheme that helps people with disabilities stay in employment.

ICT Volunteers

We also have a small team of ICT volunteers. Each volunteer receives hands‑on training in Assistive Technology and helpful written guides.

Our volunteers can support you with:

  • Setting up computers, smartphones, tablets and smart speakers
  • Troubleshooting issues with printers, broadband routers and email accounts
