We host a range of events throughout the year to support, inform, and bring people together from tech workshops to fundraising golf days. Whether you’re looking to meet others, learn something new, or simply get involved in the community, our events provide welcoming spaces for everyone to take part.

Community Engagement

Our Community Hubs are designed to bring people in the local community together and reduce social isolation often experienced by those who are blind, partially sighted, Deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind.

We run six community hubs across Surrey every month. They are relaxed and informal – there’s no need to book. Simply come along, enjoy a cup of tea, and have a chat. Best of all, the sessions are completely free.

Our community hubs take place from 10am to 12pm at the following locations:

Previous attendees have said:

“I woke up today feeling so excited to come to the Community Hub. I hadn’t been to a social event in a while and felt a bit nervous, but everyone was so welcoming.”

“It was wonderful to be where people understood my access needs. I’m really looking forward to coming back next month.”

Hazel Drye, Volunteer Manager, says:
“Do come along to one of our Community Hubs – everyone is welcome, and our friendly team will be there to support you.”

Deaf tea and coffee gatherings

Come and join us, meet new faces and socialise at our drop-in tea and coffee events in Redhill and Woking for people who are Deaf. No need to book, just turn up!

It’s a friendly and welcoming space, where you can meet Cathy, our Deaf Community Coordinator, and members of the Deaf Social Work Team to get advice or support. We also have guest speakers attending the cafes throughout the year giving informative and interesting talks on a variety of subjects including scamming.

There’s British Sign Language interpreters available and if you need another type of communication support, please just let us know.

Tea/coffee and tasty biscuits will be provided!

Friendship group

999 BSL event

What is the Friendship Group?

The Friendship Group is a social group for adults with combined sight and hearing loss, organised by our Specialist Sensory Assessor for combined sight and hearing loss, Julie Barclay.

How often does the Friendship Group meet?

The Friendship Group meet once a month at different venues across Surrey. Activities include visits to Wisley, restaurants, wreath making and many more. Many of the group come with a Communicator Guide, who provide one to one support. People can also attend with a family member, carer or friend.

Many of the group have found their isolation reduced and wellbeing improved through attending the Friendship Group outings.
